Kindergarten and 3rd Grade, Oh My!

Lexi and Chris started school almost 2 weeks ago.  I have to admit, I was dreading it!  I wasn't worried about Lexi; she is an old pro.  Chris is another story.  We started talking to him more about Kindergarten 4 weeks before school started, trying to get a hold on what he was feeling.  He was scared and nervous and didn't want to talk about it.  I brought it up every couple of days, telling him it was ok to be scared and nervous.  I told him how I felt when I started school, which was pretty much the same.  That seemed to help a little.  Joe wanted him to try on his uniform one morning and Chris didn't want any part of it.  With much bribing, he finally tried it on.  Once we accomplished that, it helped a little bit more.  School shopping and getting a new Avengers lunch bag helped a little bit more.  Baby steps!  The Friday before school started, we went to the school to meet the teachers.  Chris was able to talk to his teacher, Ms. Trujillo, and I was relieved!  He can be so shy sometimes and it is so frustrating for us.  Now I know how my parents felt with me!  Chris said he was ready to go to school since he got to see his classroom and meet he teacher.  Yay!  Lexi just goes with the flow.  She liked her teacher and we didn't have any problems with her.

Chris came home from his first day of school and said "My teacher is awesome and my school is awesome!"

It was easier than I thought :)

6 Years Old

I can't believe my (other) baby boy is 6!  It seems like he grew up all of a sudden.  He looks older and acts older.  I am missing him being at school, but it had to happen!  He decided he wanted a Spiderman birthday.  I made him a s'mores pie instead of a cake.  It has a graham cracker crust, chocolate pie filling and marshmallow fondant on top.  It was yummy!

Awwwwwwwww!  I think they all look alike!

Look at those cheeks!

8 months

Danny is 8 months and looks like a toddler!  He is so big, weighing over 18 pounds.  It is weird to remember how big (or small) Lexi and Chris were at this age compared to Danny.  7-8 months was a busy time for Danny.  He learned how to crawl, give kisses, clap, wave, high-five and almost understands "no".  He is also starting to communicate with sounds.  "Ba-ba" means he wants to nurse and "huh-buh" means high-five.  I am so glad I am able to stay home with him and learn from him!

He is definitely not shy!  He loves being the center of attention, even in a room full of people he does not know.  He flirts with every lady we pass and will go to strangers.  He is so curious about everything!  He is going to be my most challenging kid, I think!

I was making pancakes and dropped some flour.  Danny decided to play in it.
He loves playing with his big sister!

Visit

Aunt Pam, Evan and Claire were in Denver with Uncle Troy and came to visit us for a day.  The kids had a great time!

We wish we got to see each other more often!

New Couch

We finally got rid of the maroon couch.  We liked the couch, but hated that one of cushions had to be covered from the dogs chewing on it.  The new couch is all leather, which is so hard to find.  We got in into the house, with the help of a neighbor, just before it started pouring!

Just last night we got a storage ottoman the same color as the couch.  The couch is a little tall and our feet don't touch the ground.  We expected the ottoman to be a little shorter, but it is just as tall!  We will get used to it.  We got rid of the big coffee table because it just collected everything.  I am happy with the new couch and ottoman!

7 Months!

I know I say this every month, but I really can't believe how fast time is flying!

Doing a push up!
Danny is scooting around on his tummy and he moves so fast!  He gets up on all fours, but hasn't quite figured it out yet.  We have had to get out the gate for his safety.  He is definitely not lazy!  He got a blister on his big toe since he uses it for leverage.  It didn't seem to bother him.  I can't believe he will be walking before we know it!

Here are a few random pics of him scooting after a ball.

And of making  mess eating homemade baby food...YUMMY!

Swim!

Lexi is on the Colorado Springs Swim Team.  She had her first swim meet last night and she did a great job!  Swimming is definitely her thing.

She has swim practice 4 mornings a week.  Unfortunately, it is an outdoor pool.  Some days it is so cold and I feel so sorry for her.  She stays in as long as she can!  Her coaches were proud of her last night.  We are looking forward to the next meet.
